Outdoor Videogame Installation – Rakete

Rakete is an award-winning cooperative multiplayer rocket game for up to 5 players. The star of the game is a white rocket in space that needs to land safely on the blue pad. It was developed by Mario Von Rickenbach, a world-renowned developer.

In celebration – and extension – of our Pop Up Arcade at The Ancient Priors, we are thrilled to bring Rakete to Queens Square in Crawley on Saturday 14th October for our Outdoor Videogame Installation. Drop by between 10am and 6pm to play this multiplayer game.

Run by Jo Summers under the banner of ‘Press Fire to Win’, our Outdoor Videogame Installation is part of our Pop Up Arcade which Jo has been running in various forms since 2014, as part of the Brighton Digital Festival, and alongside the Develop conference in Brighton. Jo also runs events around celebrating women’s work in games, and the Global Game Jam every year.

Winner of the Jury & Audience Award, Experimentalgameplay.com Contest in Berlin. Part of the Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) Collection.

Instructions to play: Rakete is free to play. Players can choose from any of the 38 levels to begin playing. For brand new players, it is recommended to play the first level first. The first level is a great introduction to the game and allows players to have an idea of how the game works. It is also a great level for all players to figure out how to maneuver the ship together and to get the hang of moving a rocket ship with only a finger.
